What Bed Posts is about:

Message Posts
Bed Posts is an internet forum for accommodation providers such as managers and owners of independent hotels, guest houses, B&Bs and self-catering holiday cottages/apartments. It consists of a number of message boards on which members initiate a discussion on a topic and other member contribute to the discussion with their own message posts (Bed Posts – get it?). The topics may be designed to:

• Impart information
• Express a view
• Get help/advice from members
• Tell a joke or funny story

Local Notice Boards
All members around UK have access to the national message boards described above. Additionally each member is subscribed to one (sometimes more) local message board for discussion of issues pertinent to a particular town or locality only. Members outside of the locality will not be able to even see let alone access such boards.

Other Benefits
When people of like-minds get together, often other benefits ensue which were not originally envisaged. Several such benefits have arisen including:

• Staying at members’ establishments at discounted rates
• Passing on leads for business which cannot be accommodated
• Sale of surplus items of equipment
• 6-months free membership of Availability System donated by the sponsor

Possible Future Role
Established in April 2007 as a talking shop for members, Bed Posts has the possibility of evolving into a body with a wider role, for example:

• Establish an executive committee
• Convey members’ views to official bodies such as HM Government, Visit Britain, Fire Authorities, Olympic Committee
• Raise funds (more below)
• Represent members in extraordinary legal and related matters on selected issues which may have implications for the many

Membership Criteria
To join you must be a manager or owner of independent serviced accommodation such an hotel, B&B, guest house or holiday cottage. Thus a manager of an hotel within a budget hotel group would not be eligible nor would those working within related organisations such as Visit Britain, Tourist Departments of Local Authorities (but see Associate Membership below).

Associate Membership
It is recognised that related organisations and Bed Posts members may benefit from improved communication and it’s possible to give associate membership to such related organisations of which Visit Britain is one. VB has been accorded its own message board on which all parties can write but VB does not have access to the remainder of The Forum.

Closed Nature of Bed Posts
The general public cannot see messages posted on the closed pages of the Forum which may only be viewed by its members. There is, however, one message board, clearly marked, which is a blog to the world at large on any subject on which they feel strongly.

No Membership Fees
It is free to join. The costs of running the website and marketing of Bed Posts is borne by the sponsor THOR commission-free on-line reservation system, a product of Internet Results Ltd.
