Description

Hosted by Neil and Kathy Arnold, Lodge House B&B is a peaceful relaxing place to stay in Buckland St Mary, just off the A303 in the beautiful Blackdown Hills. Neil and Kathy moved to Buckland St Mary in January 2010 with the idea of opening a B&B. After some renovation work to the house, which dates back to 1750, the first guest room was ready to receive visitors in Sept 2011. Further renovation work to the derelict section of the house was undertaken in 2014/15 and we now have a further 2 guests rooms with private/ensuite shower rooms.

Our first room was?the Iris Room, a first floor spacious south facing bedroom, with views over the countryside. It has a comfortable king sized bed, wardrobe, antique furniture, a rocking chair, Digital Freeview Colour TV, and complementary tea and coffee making facilities. Either side of the bed are modern reading lights with daylight bulbs. Wi-Fi is also available. The pillows and duvet are fibre fill but we also have feather pillows for those who prefer them. Adjacent is the totally refurbished private bathroom with high spec power shower. These being the only two rooms on that floor makes for a very private stay.

Up a different flight of stairs in the newly renovated part of the house, on the first floor you will find The Lilac?Room.? This is a twin bedded room with smart internet TV, views to the South and similar facilities?to the Iris Room.? It has an adjacent private shower room with high spec Mira shower.?

Further up these stairs to the 2nd floor is the Blue Room, a double room with a king sized bed and all facilities including an ensuite shower/wetroom.? Due?to an existing?beam there is restricted head room here and this shower room would not be suitable for anyone over 6foot tall.

For breakfast, we use fresh local ingredients, organic where possible. Eggs are from our own free range chickens, and the jam is homemade. Sausages and bacon are sourced from local Somerset farms. We use organic Fairtrade tea by Clipper and a range of herbal and fruit teas are always available.

Breakfast is served between 8.00am and 9.30am in the dining room. (other times by request). Our breakfast comprises a full English menu of bacon, sausage, eggs, tomato, mushrooms, beans if required and toast made from homemade bread, fruit juice, choice of fruits, cereals, yoghurt, tea, coffee or hot chocolate. A vegetarian option can be provided.

Your host Kathy is a qualified complementary therapist so your stay can be combined with some treatments such as Reflexology or Aromatherapy massage to provide a lovely therapeutic break.
